Do you set clear quality standards for your staff to meet customer expectations?

A plumb line is used to establish an absolutely true vertical line, an important standard when building straight walls, for example. Likewise, in our businesses, we must develop and maintain standards of quality that help us meet our customers' expectations. Otherwise, they are likely to leave for our competitors.

Evaluate your company and then set clear, quantifiable, high-quality standards for everything your business does. Train your staff to pursue quality improvement relentlessly, and insist that they follow through every time.

As a manager, it's your job to ensure that these key standards are met and to make adjustments when your products and services are "out of plumb."

Scripture: And the LORD said to me, "What do you see ... ?" And I said, "A plumb line" (Amos 7:8).
