Do you support your new managers?

When promoting people to management positions, don't turn them loose without providing encouragement and ongoing support. Identify and continue to build on the leadership skills and aptitudes that caused you to place your trust in the new manager.

At the same time, pay attention to areas of weakness that need to be strengthened, and develop a plan for helping the manager improve.

Make sure you have furnished proper training and direction to establish a proper foundation for their performance. Then follow up regularly, inquiring as to what challenges they are encountering and making suggestions for how those obstacles may be overcome.

Remember that new managers need and deserve extra support until they learn the ropes. Encourage, train, and mentor your new managers and they will bring success to your business.

Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it (Proverbs 8:33).

Scripture: Charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go across at the head of this people (Deuteronomy 3:28).
